Haiti Campaign Drive Update

Through the rest of January we are donating 10% of gross sales from our website, www.seismicaudiospeakers.com to the Haiti Relief fund via redcross.org.  Here is a link to the original post, http://seismicaudio.posterous.com/seismic-audio-will-donate-10-of-sales-to-hait.

We started this on Thursday of last week and made our first donation of $247 on Friday.  Today we have made our second donation of $374.  Attached is the screen shot from the donation.  Weekends are typically slow for Seismic Audio.  We sell to musicians and you guys are usually rocking the clubs and bars on the weekends.  This brings our total to $621 for this campaign.  Hopefully tomorrow we can do a little better and get this number up.

First Day Results for Haiti Earthquake Donations

As some of you may have seen yesterday, for the rest of the month of January, I will be donating 10% of gross sales generated through our website, www.seismicaudiospeakers.com.  This campaign started yesterday and I am making the donations daily for the previous days sales totals.  Friday, Saturday and Sunday donations will be made on Mondays.

Today I have made my first donation to the Red Cross for a total of $247.  I had planned to attach the email receipt they send, but apparently due to numerous donations, the email receipts are delayed.  I took a screen shot of the confirmation page and have obviously blacked out any personal information I do not want others to see.  Here is the photo.

I will keep a running tally as I make donations to see where we stand and post here and on Facebook.

If any of you would like to make a donation, simply text it in.  Just text "HAITI" to 90999 and they will add $10 to your next phone bill and apply it towards the Red Cross Haiti relief fund.

Seismic Audio Will Donate 10% of Sales to Haiti

Seismic Audio Will Donate 10% of Sales to Haiti

If you have watched the news at all in the last few days, I am sure you have seen the coverage of the earthquake in Haiti.  Thousands have died.  Kids no longer have parents and parents no longer have kids.  Watching the kids in need on TV has pulled at my heart.  Being a father myself, I can't imagine watching my child be in this type of situation and not being able to do anything to help him.  Starting today, January 21st through the rest of the month, I will donate $10 for every $100 ordered through our website, www.seismicaudiospeakers.com.  Due to fees associated with selling Seismic Audio products on eBay, Amazon, and other marketplaces, I am only able to afford donating 10% based on sales generated through our actual website.  These marketplaces charge 10%-15% for each sell that occurs on their site.  However, if you find us on one of these sites and decide to purchase on our website instead, I will donate the money.

I will be donating money through the Red Cross website at www.redcross.org.  If you would like to help, you can text "HAITI" to 90999 $10 will go towards the Haiti earthquake relief via the Red Cross.  I have personally sent five texts to them and hope you guys can send a text or two yourself.

I plan to send my donations every day for the previous days sells.  For example, if today we do $2000 worth of sales, I will send $200 tomorrow.  For weekends, I will send the money for Friday, Saturday and Sunday sales on Monday.  I will attempt to post receipts given to me from Red Cross.  I will do everything I can to show legitimacy in this campaign, but it may require you taking my word for it when it comes to sales.  View our feedback on eBay and Amazon, check us out on Facebook, or just Google us, and you will see I run an honest company and treat people the right way.  $2000 worth of sales from the website would be a good day for website sales, based on past history.

If this campaign increases sales for Seismic Audio, then great.  If not, that is fine.  Increasing sales is not my goal with this campaign.  I have been blessed to be in a business I love.  I figure I can afford to give away 10% of my gross sales for a good cause for 10 days.  Also, since I named my company Seismic, I feel like I should donate to this cause.

If you don't need any pro audio gear, then I would hope you would still donate.  Simply text "HAITI" to 90999 and $10 will be donated to the people of Haiti who have been devastated by the earthquake.

Seismic Audio's New Affiliate Program

A lot of people have been asking if Seismic Audio had some sort of Affiliate Program.  Well, now we do!  We are currently still working out all the small details, but you can go to the affiliates page and sign up!  When you sign up, You will receive your own unique URL which will automatically track all sales you generate.  We even provide you with banner ads and text links that you can just choose, copy & paste!  Then you will be on your way to making a commission off items that people buy through your link.  It is that easy!  A great way for you to earn some extra income!

But wait! There's more... We have also decided to make it a tier level program.  So, while you are getting your 7.5% commission from items you personally sell, you can also be making an additional percentage off items that people you refer to the program sell.  Here is what the levels look like:

Level 1 (you)    7.5%
Level 2               4%
Level 3            1.5%
Level 4               1%
Level 5               1%

If some signs up for the program through you (we provide you a link to use), and they sell something to someone else then you will make 4% off their sell!  That is 4% and you didn't have to do anything!  And it gets better!  If the person you just got to sign up for the programs signs someone else up, you will get 1.5% off everything the new person sells!  This goes on for two more levels in which you will get 1% for each.  Now, not only are you making yourself money with each sell, but the people you referred to the program are making you money.

We will send you your payout by check and they will be mailed out on the 20th of every month.  In order to receive a check, you must have earned at least $50 by the 20th of the month.  If you don't have the minimum $50 in your account, no worries - we will keep up with it until you do. Once your account reaches the $50 minimum, your check will be emailed to you the next month on the 20th.

In order to keep cost low for everyone, we are offering you a chance to help us sell our products and make money off of them!  So, be sure to check out our Affiliate Program, sign up, and begin making money selling the products you love!  (I posted a picture of what your account page will look like.)

Apparently eBay does not like Facebook and Twitter

On the 30th we received a phone call from eBay that our eBay listings were in violation of eBay policies.  This is by no means an eBay bash.  eBay accounts for about 50% of Seismic Audio's revenues.  We love eBay.  But I do disagree with this policy.  Our violations were that we posted our phone number and follow us on Facebook and Twitter links.

In about 90% of our listings we advertise for people to follow us on Facebook and Twitter.  Now it looks like we are going to have to get our Facebook and Twitter followers from our website and other advertisements.  If you follow us on Facebook and Twitter, you will see that we advertise a lot of what we are doing on eBay on these two websites.  We advertise our scratch and dent items on Facebook.  All of our scratch and dent is listed on eBay.  We have some items we only sell on eBay.  Usually new items, we try them on eBay before adding them to our website or Amazon.  This is usually posted on Facebook and Twitter.  In my opinion this is a bad move by eBay.  Social media is the new "it" thing on the Internet and they should embrace it and not try and keep people from it.  Okay, I understand eBay wants all sells to originate from them.  This allows them to get their "cut" and make more money.  But people are still going to Google "Seismic Audio", they are still going to find our website, they are still going to find us on Facebook, and they are still going to find us on twitter.  My thought is that eBay should embrace the technology.  We have all seen how MySpace did not embrace applications and open source and third party coding.  It made MySpace less user friendly and people migrated to Facebook.  Now MySpace is playing catch up.  I think if eBay would embrace these websites and make things more user friendly for sellers and make information more easily available to the buyers, then they will stay dominate.  If they try to control everything then they are poised to lose customers (the sellers) and in return lose the buyers.

We also advertise our 800 phone number.  This is frowned upon in eBay world as well.  I can sort of understand why they do not want us to have the phone number in our listings.  If some one calls in and we place the order over the phone, then eBay would not get their commissions.  I am sure this happens a lot with some sellers, but we actual try to encourage people to buy from the marketplace they come from.  Why would we encourage you to buy from the marketplace you come from and have to pay the fees?  Because of our volume.  By buying online, the only mistake we can really make is packing the wrong item.  By buying online, it is all automated.  When you place an order on any channel, eBay, Amazon, or our website, your order is automatically processed.  The email address you enter is automatically sent a receipt and tracking when it ships.  Your label is automatically printed.  The only point at which we can make an error is packing the wrong item.  Now don't get me wrong, we do not mind taking orders over the phone, but the possibility for errors increases.  We do not usually have errors when doing phone orders, but the chance is always there.  Since many of our items are similar, we have to be absolutely certain we are comparing apples to apples when we take orders over the phone.  We then have to manually process orders and manually make sure you get an email receipt and tracking number.  We usually do not forget to do this, but it has happened.  When ordering online, things usually go smooth.  For this reason I do not mind paying the eBay and Amazon fees.  Why do we have the number?  Two reasons.... Many of our items are $100 plus.  The number gives us creditability.  When you order online, you have to trust that the seller will ship.  If you do not hear from us via email, you can always call.  But we will email.  Second reason is for tech support.  A lot of times, people are not quite sure how to hook up their gear or are not really sure what they need.  The number makes it easy to call in and make sure you are getting the right thing.

What really ticks me off though and amazes me is that 100 or so of our listings were reported to eBay by another eBay user.  This is how they found out we were in violation of their policy.  This is also how we found out we were in violation.  I had no clue.  Who has the time to report 100 plus listings?  Competitors I guess?  I have an idea of who I think it is.  And it turns out this person I think it is follows us on Facebook and Twitter.  I could block them, but I do not run my business that way.  I guess this person (or company) feels threatened by Seismic Audio.  I'm flattered.  Seismic Audio has made it!  We have competitors who are scared of us!  Sweet!!!

Steve
